E-commerce or electronic commerce (or internet business) is about buying, selling or exchanging products, services and information via computer networks or the INTERNET. Most of the time, these activities occurs on a website.
What are the common types of businesses on the internet?
B2B (business-to-business) is a type of internet business: In which all the participants are either businesses or other organizations (including non-business organizations and government). One simple example is: where your company are selling ebooks - on how to create a website - to other companies so that they can expand their businesses or improve their operations.
B2C (business-to-consumer) is a type of internet business: That includes retail transactions of products and services from businesses to individual shoppers. The simplest example is when you are buying a handbag from lelong.com.my or ebay.com, for your love ones.
Nowadays, mobile business has emerged due to our needs to keep in touch with our businesses wherever we are. Mobile business applications generally involve mobile devices like handphones and PDA. We need them to conduct transactions when we are away from our computers (home or office). We can do our banking, blogging, chatting, and even ordering books from Amazon.com through our cell phones.
C2C (consumer-to-consumer) websites too are arising due to consumers' awareness to help each others against the rising scams.
